The Kêlê Project is a cultural exchange program designed to give us an opportunity to get to know the people, culture and land of the island of São Tomé, and for us to share a bit about us and our cultureS.
Following the application process, we will have an initial meeting with the team to develop our plan for the year.
The project team begins working in early November as we to plan activities that we will do with the students who are a part of the Associação Kêlê. This planning and development of resources will continue, weekly, through May.
Beginning in January, we conduct two activities with them per month. One will be asynchronous with communications via email, through the Project Supervisors and the principal of the Associação. The second activity will be online through video conference.
The year will culminate in a one week face-to-face visit and lessons that we present to the students in São Tomé.
The project requires significant effort and commitment, but the benefits to you and the students at Kêlê make it all worth it.
